It's been a while since I've written about Windows Vista, but with the release of Service Pack 1, I thought now would be a good time.
I've been using Vista for a year now and while I've had one or two problems, on the whole I've been very pleased with it. Although the much reported bug involving file copying has been noticeable and more than a little annoying at times, but it hasn't been enough of an issue to tempt me back to XP (which I'd now consider to be a step backwards).
I installed Service Pack 1 on the 1st March having had early access to it via MSDN. It took about half an hour to install and then something unusual happened, I forgot I'd installed it. The most obvious change has been that file copying now just happens, there's no longer that annoying delay while it worked out how long it would take. Otherwise I've not really noticed that I've installed it, which in my book is great, a service pack should fix and improve not introduce changes to the system that break it or force you to learn a new way to use it.
It should become generally available this week through Windows Update, I know that there are reportedly some issues with some device drivers needing to be re-installed (I personally haven't had any problems), but I would recommend that anyone using Vista upgrade as soon as they can!
